Today We Visit: ITALY.
Roman inspired mulled cocktail.
It is said mulled wine originated with the Romans, as a way to savour their wine through the long, cold Winter months.
Apples and oranges.
This gin based cocktail can be enjoyed with any gin of your choosing, but to truly experience the best mulled gin cocktails I suggest a London dry gin paired with apple juice or a great sloe gin paired with orange juice, depending on your gin preference.

SMOKEY MARTINI
RECIPE
Gin
Juice
Liqueur Glass
– 1 part Gin
– 2 parts juice
– Equal parts orange/apple, cinnamon, star anise, cloves,
– Peeled whole orange
– Honey to taste
Place all the ingredients together into a pan.
Heat on a medium – high heat to just over a simmer. Do not allow to boil.
Once above simmering reduce to a low heat and simmer for a further 10 minutes.
Pour the ingredients through a colander into a jug to separate the spices and fruits from the mulled gin.
Take a coffee liqueur and serve.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick and an orange/apple slice.
